Care Support Independence

Here are some of the things in which members of the Users’ Network are involved in Wiltshire..

•We hold user-controlled meetings for service users in various localities across the county
•We support users to be involved in all levels of health and Care planning, both county wide and in local Primary Care Trusts
 • We hold meetings for older people based in Trowbridge, Pewsey, Devizes, Marlborough, South Wiltshire and Swindon
•We hold "Our Time To Talk" meetings of local users of Mental Health Services
•We facilitate meetings of people with learning difficulties, to feed into local planning forums, and the implementation of the new "Valuing People" legislation
•We support users to meet regularly with key Councillors before Social Services meetings
•Some members are involved on the Wiltshire County Council’s Best Value Reviews, and led the Best Value Review of Direct Payment
•Users join interview panels for staff appointments to Social Services, and the Mental Health Trust
•We have been commissioned to bring service users together to discuss the future management of Health and Social Care in North Wiltshire and Kennet
•We campaigned to change the Social Services policy towards the privatisation of home Care services
•We provide direct input from users into staff development and training within Social Services, Health Trusts, and Social Work courses in Universities and Colleges
•We have links with national policy developments, particularly in relation to the National Service Frameworks
